NEW PUPPETS FOR DON-CON!

I was recently asked to create a new puppet for Don-Con, a tribute to legendary mask maker Don Post and company. I decided to make a puppet for one of the most iconic masks ever, the 'Calendar' Frankenstein! It is hand rotational molded, so it is hollow and functions as a puppet. The body is printed fabric and was manufactured by Lance Thingmaker. One of the coolest projects I have EVER gotten to be involved with!
BUT: I underestimated the demand! All of the puppets made for Don-Con are sold out! We are going to begin taking preorders for a 2nd version of this Frankenstein puppet. The body will be more of a classic monster style, in order to keep the Don-Con version exclusive! You can sign up below if you want to get notified when preorders are up, just send me your name and email. I expect to get this going in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on your inboxes (and spam folders).

sign up here to get notified about preordering this puppet!

Here is a photo of the original mask, next to my scaled down puppet head version! Bub Johnson made this image, I just stole it from him.

NEW WORK

I recently got the opportunity to work with one of my favorite bands, Uncle Acid and the deadbeats! I sculpted and cast the Withered Hand of Evil pendant in honor of the band's first US show at Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore. The fest took place over Memorial Day weekend 2014. This run of 100 pendants were cast in wicked black resin and sprayed with a pearlescent purple! Available now at acidcoven.com.

And it's that time of year again! Time to pack up the family and head west to the Long Beach Peninsula! Jake's Annual 75th Birthday Party & Car Show happens August 1 &2. Once again I have made premiums for those who register a vehicle in the show!
This year's theme is 'Fiesta!', so I decided to make my own Mexican 'bootleg' toys! I imagined Jake as a Lucha Libre star, cast them in hollow blue-green resin, and added a GLOW-IN-THE-DARK plastic cord. I also designed a header card and packaged them up! Limited edition of 50 pieces.

DAVE BROCKIE TRIBUTE SHOW - NYC

I recently created a piece for the Dave Brockie Memorial Tribute show at the MF Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Dave Brockie was and continues to be HUGELY inspirational to me, both as a music performer and as an artist.

I knew I had to contribute! A third of the proceeds from the art sold at this show will go to the Dave Brockie Foundation. From the website:  "The Dave Brockie Foundation will be a resource for artists in the fields of music, film, literature and all visual arts who cannot find funding through mainstream channels." You can click here for more information about the Foundation.
So go check this show out if you can, the opening party is May 3rd, 2014. After that, the art will be viewable by appointment and online.

Here is a sneak peek at the latest puppet that I am working on. This will be the 5th one in the series! It is based on the character Kannamit played by Richard Kiel in the classic Twilight Zone episode 'To Serve Man'.

This is actually the first one out of the mold! I will continue to post progress pics on my website as things progress. Don't touch that dial!

Skullclown will be setting up a table at the Kirk Hammett's FIRST EVER Fear FestEvil in San Francisco from February 6-8! This sounds like a great show, tons of guests and great vendors, and if you like thrash, some great BANDS playing the show as well! Look for me there right next to the always amazing CREEPYCULT! I should have something brand-new (and of course TOP SECRET) for sale there as well! You can get tickets and more information here: http://www.fearfestevil.com/
